How Do AR Photos Work?

How printed AR photos recognize an image and play video — and how Glimp connects your photos to memories you can scan.

AR photos work by pairing a printed image with a digital asset (usually a video). Your phone’s camera recognizes the page, then overlays or plays the linked content in the app.

The simple flow

  1. You choose photos (and optional videos) while designing your Glimp.
  2. We print a premium hardcover album or photobook.
  3. You open the Glimp app and point your camera at a page with an attached video.
  4. The app recognizes the page and plays the memory.

What you need

  • Your printed Glimp Album or Photobook
  • The free Glimp app
  • Decent lighting so the camera can see the page clearly

Design before you pay

You don’t need the app to design. Build your layout in the browser, attach videos to selected photos, preview the album, then checkout when it feels right. Scanning comes later — when the physical book is in your hands.
